Rocks, Pebbles and Sand

At the beginning of a philosophy class at university, the professor stood with some innocuous looking items on his table – an empty mayonnaise jar, some rocks, some pebbles, and some sand. The college students looked on with interest, wondering what the professor was up to and unable to guess what the demonstration was going to be. Without saying a word, the professor started putting the small rocks into the mayonnaise jar one by one. The students were puzzled, but the professor did not offer any explanation just yet.      Once the rocks were up to the neck of the jar, the professor spoke for the first time that day. He asked the students if they thought the jar was full. The students unanimously agreed that it was. The professor then picked up the pebbles on his table and slowly poured them into the jar. The small pebbles found their way in between the larger rocks.     The professor then lightly shook the jar to allow the pebb...

A Direful Night

Psychologist define fear as an emotional experience in anticipation of some specific pain or danger. It is usually accompanied by a desire to flee or fight.     I used to think am this brave amazon-type woman who isn't afraid of anything, but last night proved otherwise. I was the opposite of who I ever thought I was.      I was on visit to a relative's, a perfect getaway weekend from the stress and hustle in school.      Lemme describe the house of my host; it's an old duplex, built in the '70s , has three bedrooms on a row and a bathroom shared by the occupants of the other two rooms.     The bigger room was the Master's bedroom where my host stayed, it had it's own bathroom and all. while I slept in one of the other two rooms. FYI, my host lived alone     My room was the middle one, large and spacious with a noisy door.    The door made so much noise when opened that I can swear the neig...

Monday Vitamin

It's another week,  another opportunity to try harder and do better.  Another reason to hope and believe that we are very close to the peak.     Do well this week;  smile at someone,  give a firm handshake.  Help someone today in anyway you can. Encourage  yourself and encourage someone.  Be kind to someone,  tolerate the excesses of others.      Work with passion,  give your job more commitment and diligence. Appreciate the little things; the weather,  oxygen,  the sun(however hot it maybe). Be joyful this week.     Read that book this week,  or finish that book and pick a new one. St art that project and give it your all.  Reach out to that person this week ask about their well-being.  Show so much love this week.  You never know whose life you might change,  save, influence or better still impact.      ...

Weekend Post

You owe no one an apology for saying the truth, expressing your opinion on a particular issue. Screaming to the high heavens your displeasure. You owe no one an apology for being yourself.   Most times people try to make us feel bad about ourselves when we express US. They expect us to be fashioned in a sort of way;  speak this way and say these words; Sit this way and look that way. This should not be.      If anyone cross a boundary with you never be afraid to say it,  point it to them,  shout it, express your feelings and vexation. If it offends them, well!  Too bad... They will not forget easily where the boundary mark is. But one thing you must never do is apologize for who you are !      Whether you are a man,  or a woman wear your true colour like a crown.    Flaunt it to the world, let them know this is who you are and this is what you stand, forbid and abide by. In all my yea...

Sunday Post

Sometimes you are unsatisfied with your life, while many people are dreaming of living your life.      A child on a farm sees a plane flying over his head and dreams of flying (I do that all the time). But a pilot in the plane sees the farm house and dream of returning home. That's life! enjoy yours .      If wealth is the secret to happiness then the rich should be dancing on the streets but only poor kids do that. If power ensures security, then officials should walk unguarded.  But those who live simply, sleep soundly.      If beauty and fame brings ideal relationships, then celebrities should have the best marriages. But those who live simply, walk humbly and love genuinely!  All good will come back to you !                                 ...

Voice Out

When I was younger I was afraid of almost everything; bugs, insects, maggots, dogs... And darkness, especially darkness. I was sore afraid of what was hiding beyond the thick blackness of the night waiting to take me away or eat me up... Lol     With time I stopped being afraid(as I grew). I found the use of light quite effective. I had more worries, bigger fear than darkness.  Fears that darkness can't stand. The fear of my voice.  The fear of being heard. Just saying something, anything was scary enough.     For years the battle raged,  I was afraid to speak, I avoided been called on to say something,  to deliver a short note or lecture, afraid to head a group or lead a team. It was always a burden when am called on to speak,                   "why should I be the one to speak?"        ...
